Xenopoulos’ story, from which the performance is inspired, is about the summer love affair between the aristocratic Elda and the ‘popular’ Zeppo, a pretext to show the class conflict and the social barriers imposed on the two. On stage, the narration proceeds like a dance, in which the rich Ionian musical tradition dialogues with a contemporary musical expression.
